Carolyn Coulter
1939–2026
Carolyn (Eidinger) Coulter, 86, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Brookside Care Center, surrounded by family.
Born June 7, 1939, in Chicago to the late Otto and Mabel (Rude) Eidinger, Carolyn grew up in the Rogers Park neighborhood before moving to Northbrook, Illinois. She attended Glenbrook North High School, graduating in 1957. She then attended the University of Colorado Boulder, later earning a teaching degree from the National College of Education (now National Louis University) in Chicago and a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater.
Carolyn spent her career in education, teaching in Chicago and Kenosha County and serving for many years as a guidance counselor at Westosha Central High School in Paddock Lake, Wisconsin. Known for her warmth, humor, and open heart, she believed every student deserved support and encouragement.
She married David Coulter on August 19, 1961; they later divorced. Carolyn loved travel, cooking for family and friends, dancing (especially the jitterbug), card games, book and film clubs, and suspense mysteries. A lifelong baseball fan, she grew up a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and later cheered for the Green Bay Packers. “Sweet Caroline” was her signature song, and she never missed an opportunity to sing along.
Above all, Carolyn treasured time with loved ones and adored her four grandchildren, delighting in outings and shared adventures. She will be deeply missed.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Kevin Yoshida) Coulter of Golden, Colorado; Wendy (Doug Snyder) Coulter of Deerfield, Illinois; and Colleen Coulter (Brad) Belden of Deerfield, Illinois; her sister, Connie Fuller of Northbrook, Illinois; and four grandchildren, Hailey Jones, Nate Jones, Jonah Belden, and Mason Belden.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date.
