Diane Wetmore-Ocampo

1951-2025

Diane Wetmore-Ocampo, 73, of Kenosha passed away on February 4, 2025.

Diane was born on July 15, 1951, in Stockbridge, MI, the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Jerdi) Wetmore. In her youth, Diane enjoyed being around people and working with food which naturally guided her career path.

After dedicating many years to waitressing, she turned her dream into reality by purchasing her own lunch counter, Di's Place, in Sioux Falls, SD.

Later in life, she had moved to Chicago and eventually back to Kenosha. She was a hard worker, doing administrative work for various companies to support her family.

Beyond her work, Diane had a generous and compassionate spirit. Her family and friends were most important to her. She was always ready to lend a hand, offer an encouraging word, or help in any way she could—whether that meant babysitting, pet-sitting, or simply being there for a friend in need. She had a heart full of love, kindness, and understanding, making her someone people naturally would want to be with.

A lifelong lover of books, Diane found great joy in the adventures that stories brought her. She embraced life with a fun-loving, free-spirited nature, always eager to try new things and experience new places. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip, a new hobby, or an exciting opportunity, she was always up for an adventure.

One of her favorite pastimes was estate sale hunting and thrifting, where she had an uncanny ability to find hidden treasures and great deals. She had a unique way of seeing the world, which made her a delight to be around. True to herself in every way, she walked to the beat of her own drum, never afraid to embrace her individuality. But above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved most—her family and friends, especially her great nephew Allen Booth and beloved grandchildren; Isabella, Maddy and Kaylee. They were the light of her life, and every moment shared with them was cherished.

Survivors include her son, Roberto Wetmore-Ocampo of SD; brother, David (Lisa) Clippard of SD; sisters, Donna Shierk of Kenosha, Linda (Dennis) Gascoigne of Kenosha, Dawn (John) Clements of Burlington, Lyla (Earl) Buckelew of SD; 3 grandchildren; Kalyee Bloom-Poncelet, Maddy Bloom-Poncelet, Isabella Wetmore-Ocampo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Branden Bloom.

Services are private.
