Joyce Eleanor Young

1934-2025

Joyce Eleanor Young, 90, was born on September 14, 1934, in River Grove, Illinois to John C. and Bertha P. Friend. Joyce went home to be with her Lord on August 17, 2025.

Joyce lived in Chicago, IL until June 1948 when her parents bought a farm in Kansasville, WI. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1952. She married Richard D. Krogh of Racine, WI in May 1952 and they had four children. That marriage ended in October 1973. In April 1978 she married Lester Loose of Cedarburg, WI who died of cancer in December 1978. In 1980 she married James K. Young of Kenosha, WI who was a widower with five children.

Joyce worked in the purchasing department of Kenosha Unified School District before quitting to assist her husband with his school photography business. She was responsible for handling the bookkeeping for his various businesses, which included managing a ten-unit apartment building, running one of three Boy Blue ice cream stores, and record keeping for All State Photo.

Joyce is survived by her children: Gordon (Jennifer) Krogh, Kewaunee, WI; David (Mary) Krogh, Blue Mounds, WI; her step children: Barbara (Dan) Dickman, TN; Bradley (Mary Jo) Young, CA; Bernard (Sylvia) Young, TX; Jeriann (Clark) Severson, CA; Jamie (Patricia) Young, WI. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Delores Stegemann, IL and brother, Wayne (Kitty) Friend; Franksville, WI.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughters; Sharyl (Marvin) Davis and Laura (Michael) Littel, four brothers; Howard Friend, Alvin Friend, Robert Friend, John Friend and Clarence Friend and three sisters; Carol Gahres, Eileen Martinson and Shirley Pratt.

Joyce was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and serving on the prayer team.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service being held at 11:00 AM. The visitation and funeral service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, (1700 89th Street, Kenosha, WI 53143). Interment will be held the following day, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Cemetery (17W201 Roosevelt Rd., Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181).
