Lori Therese Slugocki

March 23, 1958 – August 13, 2026

Lori Therese Slugocki, 68, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, surrounded by her family, following a brief battle with cancer.

Lori was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, a fact she was always incredibly proud of. She grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she attended St. Peter’s Elementary School, Washington Junior High School, and Mary D. Bradford High School. Later in life, Lori continued her education and proudly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Alverno College.

Lori was known throughout her life for her incredible work ethic. She was one of the hardest workers you could ever meet, and she took great pride in whatever she did. Her very first job was at McDonald’s, where she was proudly one of the original employees at the Northside location. Perhaps that is why so many of us have fond memories of those “Happy Meals.” 😉

Lori’s career would eventually take her all over the country. One of her greatest gifts was her ability to meet someone and instantly make a connection. She had a way of making people feel comfortable, welcomed, and like they had known her forever. That gift followed her throughout her many fulfilling careers, including her time at Snap-on and the many other places where she made lasting friendships along the way.

Lori was especially happy to spend the later part of her working life at Imperial Services in Kenosha, close to the home and community she loved. It was just a quick walk-through Library Park—a fitting location for someone who always found her way back to Kenosha.

Lori had many residences throughout her life, and she would certainly be upset if we failed to mention Illinois, North Carolina, and Florida. She was a traveler at heart and loved experiencing the world, especially Europe. Wherever she went, she found a way to connect with people and make memories.

And Lori’s love for family knew no distance.

When her two brothers were in Warsaw, Lori made sure they knew they were never too far away. She arranged for a vodka basket to be delivered to them with her warmest wishes, determined to make their stay the best possible. That was Lori. She took care of people. She thought of the little things. She made sure you knew you were loved.

Growing up, Lori was given the nickname “Friendly” by our mother. Ma would hear someone coming up the stairs and ask, “Who is coming up the stairs, Lori or Friendly?” Lori wore that nickname as a badge of honor—and rightly so. Only a mother or a Babcia can give you a name like that, and Lori embodied it her entire life.

Lori had a way of bringing people together. She could walk into a room and leave it warmer than she found it. She worked hard, traveled far, loved deeply, laughed often, and never lost her ability to make a connection. She was our sister, our aunt, our cousin, our friend—and to so many people, simply “Friendly.”

Lori was preceded in death by her father, Albert Slugocki; her mother, Lottie Naumowicz; Tony Naumowicz; her brothers, Mark Slugocki and John Naumowicz; and all the saints and sinners too numerous to name.

She is survived by her sister, Lillian Slugocki; her brothers, Steven Naumowicz (Lori), & Michael Naumowicz (Christine}; nieces Angie Slugocki and Chloe Naumowicz; nephews Zachary, Jacob, and Luke Naumowicz; cousin, Stacey (Brian); Aunt Sophi Neu and many other family members and friends whose lives were touched by hers.
