Mary Sorensen

1951-2024

Mary Sorensen, 73, of Pleasant Prairie passed away on Friday October 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on October 21, 1951, in Waukegan, the daughter of the late Walter & Agnes (Burnot) Grider Sr.  She was educated in the schools of Zion.  Mary married Lawrence Sorensen on May 23, 1970, in Winthrop Harbor.  Mary was a homemaker, but was employed for many years as a schoolteacher in California.  She was a member of the First Christian Church.  Her hobbies included ceramics, making blankets for her grandchildren, and most of all spending time with her family & friends.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Sorensen of Pleasant Prairie; children, Steven (Tarra) Sorensen of IL, Tammy (Mark) Bovenkamp of S.C., Karen (Daniel) Vrshek of S.C., Amy (Timothy) Bartel of Kenosha; brothers, Walter (Judy) Grider Jr. of N.C., Frank Grider of Zion, John (Olga) Grider of IL, Allen (carol) Grider of TN; sister, Betty Grider of IL; 18 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren with 1 on the way.  Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Miriam.

A visitation will be held on Saturday October 26, 2024, at First Christian Church, 13022 Wilmot Rd., Kenosha, WI 53142, from 2:00PM-3:00PM, with funeral services to follow at 3:00PM.  Burial Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
