Michael J. Bott

1949-2026

Michael Bott, 76, of Kenosha passed away on February 26, 2026, at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation.

Michael was born on October 4, 1949, in Ironwood, MI, the son of Comello C. and Blanche M. (Bourdages) Bott, brother of John and sister, Teresa. He was educated in Hurley, WI school systems, and graduated in June of 1967. Michael worked at Erspamer's Supermarket from 1967 to 1968 when he moved to Kenosha where he worked for American Brass. In September 1969, he entered the United States Army, took his basic training in Ft. Bragg, NC. His first duty station was at Ft. Benning, GA and was then transferred to Camp Samae San, Thailand as a military police officer from 1970 to 1971. Michael, after a short leave he went to Nato Site 59 located in Pirmasens, Germany from September 1971 to July 1973. He was then discharged from the Army with the rank of Sergeant and served with meritorious service as a military police sergeant in tours of Southeast Asia and Germany. Michael returned to American Brass in Kenosha and was laid off in 1981. He worked at various jobs and in 1987, he worked at American Motors and was laid off in 1989. Michael also worked at Chrysler-Renault Motors in Kenosha. Later, he worked with various security companies until his retirement in 2016.

Survivors include his sister, Teresa (Rodney) Bakkala Sr.; nephews, Michael, Daniel, and Rodney Jr. Bakkala, Raymond and Donald Bott; grandnephews and nieces, Tanner, Andrea, Carson, Jordan and Cali Bakkala; also included is a great nephew, Oliver John and his great-niece, Ellie. Michael was preceded in death by his parents;  grandnephew, Zachary Bakkala; also included are many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Michael enjoyed watching different game shows, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees. His hobby was looking up his family trees and the history of his family ancestors.

"Weep not for me though I am gone. For I am at peace. There is no need for tears, for with your love I was blessed. Do not dwell upon my death but celebrate my life."

Military honors services will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00PM.
