Michael Nelson
January 28, 1954-March 15, 2024
Michael Allen Nelson passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin on March 15, 2024, after a brief illness. He died surrounded by his family including a brother, his daughters, his niece and grand-niece, and grandchildren.
Mike was born January 28, 1954, in Racine, Wisconsin, to Robert Arthur Nelson and Joann Sylvia (Bigford) Nelson. He lived most of his life in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, was confirmed at St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Kenosha, and graduated from Tremper High School in 1972. He was very mechanically inclined, and was previously employed by American Brass in Kenosha, then later by Giardetto's in Milwaukee, and Ocean Spray in Kenosha.
Mike was first married to Vickie Powers, and later to Linda Arndt. Mike viewed his step-daughters with Linda – Tracy and Angie Carroll – as his own, and their children and grandchildren were his much-beloved family who brought him great joy.
Later in life Mike met and fell in love with Dee (Mohr) Griffin, and together they made a home first in Kenosha and later in Pleasant Prairie, where they lived until the time of his death. Mike was a lifelong Packers fan, and a great motorcycling fan as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his younger brother Daniel Alvin Nelson. He is survived by: his partner, Dee (Mohr) Griffin; (step) daughters, Angie Carroll and Tracy Carroll; brothers, Steven (Nicola) Nelson, Thomas Nelson, and James Nelson; grandchildren, Maliek (Dezarae) Robinson, Devontee Allen, Deasijah Carroll, and Darren Kellam; great-grandchildren, Jena Robinson, Corillia Robinson, and Makai Robinson; nieces, Sarah (Bobby) Nelson-Fisher and Marissa Nelson; nephews, Jesse (Tracy) Nelson, Daniel (Dilan) Nelson, Jeff Nelson, and Tim Nelson; grand-niece, Harper Stogenson; an uncle, Glenn (Rosella) Bigford; and a number of cousins.
A visitation will be held at Kenosha Funeral Services on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 10:00AM-11:00AM with funeral services to follow immediately at 11:00AM. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
