Michael I. "Mike" Smith
1947 – 2016

Michael Ivan Smith, of Pleasant Prairie, WI passed away unexpectedly, Friday, December 30, 2016.

Mike was born in Waukegan, IL on January 13, 1947, to the late Edwin and Lydia (Drosdroska, Trozik, Misketch, Bergevin) Smith of Zion, IL. After graduating from Zion Benton High School he went to Vietnam with the U.S. Army. After receiving an honorable discharge he began a 31-year career at Commonwealth Edison, Station 16 in Waukegan, IL, until he retired to become a full time "Papa".

His interests included fishing, playing softball and spending time with his family. He believed if someone needed something he could provide he gave it to them without expecting anything in return.

Mike is survived by his daughters Diane (Ken) Gandy, Michele Zapp, granddaughters, Courtney, Jessica, Amanda Zapp and Desiray Gandy. He is also survived by his brothers, Karl, Alvin, and Ed Smith, sisters, Esther Smith and Rochelle Davis brother-in-law Frank Marcinkus, sister-in-law Alice Bergivin, brother-in-law Tennis Morris as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family by choice. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joseph, Lori and David Bergevin and sisters Maureen "Bunny" Morris and Betty Marcinkus.

In abiding with his wishes there will be no services. If you wish to honor the memory of Mike, his family encourages you to expand his legacy by doing what you can to help someone else without expecting anything in return.
