Joseph "Joey"
S. Gauslow
December 22, 1986 – April 23, 2022
Joseph S. Gauslow
1986-2022
Joseph Stephan Gauslow, 35, Kenosha, WI, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2022.
Joey was born on December 22, 1986, in Fargo, ND, to Mark and Sonja (Schmitt) Gauslow. He graduated from Richland High School in Colfax, ND, attended Luther College in Decorah, IA, and graduated from Augsburg University, Minneapolis, MN, with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Religion. Following graduation, he worked for Push Pedal Pull in Minneapolis and Denver. Wanting to be closer to family, he moved to Kenosha and worked for Sleep Number until he was hired by Uline in 2015. Joey worked in different areas of the business, including the Uihlein properties, and was especially honored by his friendship with Liz Uihlein, with whom he spent many hours in deep conversation. He earned his MBA from North Park University, Chicago, IL, in December 2020.
Joey was a connoisseur of life with a passion for photography, technology, politics, Nordic folklore and traditions, craft beer, fine whiskey, gourmet coffee, and unique foods. Other creative hobbies included calligraphy, creating hot sauce, and making soap and fragrance blends, which he gifted to family and friends. He traveled to Norway with family in 2019, and fell in love with his ancestral home. He immediately planned and scheduled a return trip to photograph the Northern Lights, and was eagerly awaiting the reopening of global travel. He was an avid reader with a near photographic memory and could have debated Ben Shapiro had they not been in agreement. He was especially enamored with the works of Martin Luther, Thomas Sowell, and Rand Paul. He had a wry sense of humor and a quick wit and loved to laugh and have others laugh with him. He was a lifetime member of Richland Lutheran church. But always, Joey's greatest love was for his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents Mark Gauslow, Colfax ND, Sonja (Kent) Casperson, Colleyville, TX, two brothers Jacob (Becky Blatti) Gauslow, Rochester, MN, Adam (Lisa) Gauslow, sister Ariel Gauslow, niece Lena Gauslow, nephews Carl Gauslow, Anders Gauslow, his brother from another mother; Mark Sheldon, all of Kenosha, WI, step brother Matt (Danielle) Casperson, step sister Lauren (Micah) Tengesdal, step nieces Rose and Jane Casperson, Arwyn, Lillia, and Louisa Tengesdal, step nephews Elliot Casperson, Boone Tengesdal, all of West Fargo, ND, and countless other family and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Rev. Otto and LaVerne Schmitt, Orris and Christine Gauslow, and Leone (Bakken) Gauslow.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." The view of the Northern Lights must be glorious in heaven.
Celebrations of life will be held at the Uline conference center on Wednesday, April 27, 6:00-9:00 PM, and at Richland Lutheran Church, rural Walcott ND, on Friday, April 29, at 11:00 AM.
