Mervyn Ragnar Johnson

1940-2022

Mervyn Johnson, 82, of Kenosha passed away on March 19, 2022.

Mervyn was born on March 7, 1940, in Ironwood, MI. He was the son of the late Ragnar and Sylvia (Nevala) Johnson. He was educated in the public schools of Ironwood. Mervyn married Patricia Peterson on November 28, 1959, in Ironwood. They were married for 58 years before she preceded him in death in 2018. He was employed at AMC/Chrysler as a machinist for over 42 years and was a member of UAW Local 72. His hobbies included fishing, fixing cars, and bargain hunting. He enjoyed car shows, attending stock car races, watching NASCAR, and attending country and bluegrass music festivals. In all areas of life, Mervyn was an incredibly hard worker.

Survivors include his children, Curtis (Linda) Johnson of Kenosha, and Susan (Eldred) Woodman of Kenosha; sister, Marlene (Bill) Kane of DePere, WI; sisters-in-law, Kathy (John) Stipanuk of Wheaton, IL, Betty (Mike) Anderson of Kenosha, and Sue Peterson of Kenosha; grandchildren, Christina (Nathan) Duran of Buenos-Aires, Argentina, David (Kellie) Johnson of Kenosha, Lucas (Alyssa) Johnson of Indianapolis, IN, Robyn (Nate) Alles of Kenosha, and Mitchell Johnson of Kenosha; also included are his great grandchildren, Marco Duran, Miliana Duran, Kaylee Johnson, Paul Johnson, Aniah Johnson, and Elijah Johnson.

Mervyn was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Don Peterson.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 26 at The Tabernacle. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m.
