Teresa Valadez Rivas

1934-2024

Teresa Valadez Rivas, 90, of Kenosha passed away on November 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Teresa was born on February 28, 1934, in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of the late Eliseo and Abigail (Madrid) Valadez. She was educated in the schools of California. Teresa married Richard Rivas on September 14, 1957, in Los Angeles, California. She took loving care of Richard until his death in November 2023.

She was a business owner for a foreclosure company, R&T Financial Servicing Co., Inc. and prior to that she worked in banking. Her hobbies included reading, writing, watching TV shows, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and UCLA football.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Teresa was a talented renaissance woman – she could cook, knit, crochet, do puzzles, make bread, run businesses, taught her children how to stand up for themselves and to be tenacious.  She, along with her husband Richard, raised a lawyer, a cartographer/GIS analyst, a nurse practitioner and an entrepreneur/businessman.

Survivors include her children, Lynn (Paul) Rodriguez of Texas, Adrienne (Roy) Anderson of Texas, Diane (Libby Marsh) Perdue of California, Richard Anthony Rivas of Kenosha; also included are her 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her mother, Abigail and father, Eliseo; brothers, Henry, Eliseo and Vincent; and her sisters, Olga, Lillian and Trinidad (Teresa's fraternal twin); her daughter-in-law, Theresa.

A celebration of life will be held in late June 2025 in California.
